The Iowa Bicycle Summit is an annual conference providing education on the latest bicycle facilities, technology, and programming. Now in its 11th year, the Iowa Bicycle Summit brings national speakers to Iowa to share bicycle facility successes and best practices from around the United States. Many of the lessons learned at the Summit have manifested into trail facilities and safety.
We have two different sessions. The first is a bikeway design session. Josh Sikich from Alta Planning and Designis presenting. His presentation will focus on bikeway design using the NACTO Cities for Cycling Design Guide, MUTCD, AASHTO, and FHWA Guidances.
On the other track, we focus more on trail efforts and marketing. Russ Roca and Laura Crawford from the Path Less Pedaled will highlight the marketing efforts for bicycling in Oregon and other points in the US. A panel will be presenting from Perry to talk about their successes with brownfield redevelopment that has turned into a trail and into a thriving hospitality effort in the community. The Corridor MPO will present on the 80% Bicycle and 20% other funding model; Marion will present on the Biopillic project; SUDAS will talk about their new complete streets guide. Finally, Michelle Barker from the International Mountain Bike Association will present on Singletrack design and Safe Routes to School will talk about bike clubs for youth.
